Autographed Picture of the Enterprise
When I wrote my book, "Letters to Star Trek," one of the letters I included was from a youngster who had written, "May I have an autographed picture of the Enterprise?" This isn't as odd as it may seem -- many people realized that the Enterprise is a leading character herself, the "home where Star Trek lives," to paraphrase Gene Roddenberry (see Log Entry 11). Still, the thought of a ship sending out signed photos was too good to pass up, so I found a postcard of the ship (which was one of the models photographed against a very earthly blue sky!) signed it, "Best Wishes, The U.S.S. Enterprise," and included it with the book's photos. This will have to do until we can get the Enterprise to put her nacelle prints in wet cement at Mann's Chinese Theatre!
